Balance in Life, Isn't Just About Being Happy...
Or Is It?

I've always found it interesting how things fit together in life...

This morning, as I'm considering the many reasons for women to find a happy balance between work and home, I find an email in my inbox from Troy White. He
tells me that according to a recent article in Business Edge in October of 2006, only 65% of business owners feel they have their work and personal life in balance. Hence, a full 65% of us feel like life is out of balance.

I think, "Wow, 65%, that's a lot of entrepreneurs." And then he goes on to say that you might think that entrepreneurs who were extremely financially successful, would see a higher than average divorce rate because of their focus on business, but actually, the numbers show something very different. A recent 400 Richest List in Forbes shows that those who have reached billionaire status are actually more likely to remain married.

So, what you ultimately identify is that people who have been extremely financially successful have found a way balance work and home. And my guess is that this is because they found a way to achieve a happy balance early-on in their lives.

In our western culture, we traditionally pay the bills and then worry about whether or not we're happy. So I thought it somewhat interesting that recent research and business data is proving that those folks who achieve a balance between work and home, also tend to find the money.

So at this point, I'm thinking I may be on to something...

After lunch today, I open Madison Magazine, and I read an article on the Zen of Business Success by John Lehman. John is the co-author with Dave Bruns of
Everything is Changing: How to Gain Loyal Clients and Customers Quickly, a book essentially about effectively creating business success. In that article, John states that entrepreneurs who value both business and having a life also enjoy the most success.

So after bumping into all this information today, I'm convinced that I was sent a message today for a reason... I was meant to share it with you. You may have learned that keeping your nose to the grindstone brings financial success, and you may think that happiness is to be postponed until the work is complete. But science and history are proving differently. Happiness LEADS to success.

I'm pretty certain I was taught that it worked the other way around... Hmmm...

Let's listen to that one more time to let it sink in.

Happiness leads to success.

Sounds kind of nice. Doesn't it?
